On The Docket: What To Expect From The 2019 Triton Owners Tournament

Fishing is a sport that combines patience with skill. The fisherman must have mastered both in order to succeed in his endeavor; pull too quickly and you'll scare your catch away, reel too hastily and you'll risk snapping your line. If you can balance the two together, you'll be able to do more than simply supply the dinner table with a delicious trout, walleye, or bass -- you can compete in this country's many fishing tournaments.

Triton TournamentIt's estimated that 51.59 million people went fishing in 2017, nearly 18% of the U.S. population. One of the more famous (and lucrative) tournaments is the Triton Owners Tournament. Occurring every year in the Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tennessee, the bass fishing competition encourages Triton boat owners to test their mettle against Man and Nature alike. Last year's winners were a father-son team who beat out over 300 contestants and took home the grand prize for bringing in 32.37 lbs of bass. Let's take a look at some FAQ about 2019's Triton boats tournament.

  • When is it? This year's TOT is scheduled for May 30 - June 1, 2019. In order to enter, you must register (including your $200 registration payment) by May 17, 2019.

  • How am I scored? Scoring is determined by the weight (in pounds and ounces) of each team's catch. Only Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass are permitted.

  • Are there fishing restrictions? You will be catching bass, and they must be caught live in a conventional sporting manner. Only artificial lures may be used (with the exception of pork trailers).
